On 20 August 2026, to celebrate Hungary's State Foundation Day and St. Stephen's Day, the National Széchényi Library will host an Open Day from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
We warmly welcome our readers and visitors between 13 July and 19 August 2026.
We kindly wish to inform you that the reading room services of the National Széchényi Library will not be available from 20 to 24 August. On 20 August, our national holiday, we look forward to welcoming visitors to our Open Day.
On 25 March 2026, our library hosted a ceremonial reception organised by the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Budapest on the occasion of Greek Independence Day.
The meeting focused on opportunities to strengthen cultural relations, as well as on a planned inter-institutional cooperation.
On 27 March 2026, a cooperation agreement was concluded between the National Széchényi Library (NSZL) and the French Institute in Hungary.
On 24 March 2026, the Azerbaijani book corner was ceremonially inaugurated at the National Library of Foreign Literature (NLFL). The event marks another milestone in Hungarian–Azerbaijani library cooperation.
On 19 March 2026 Caroline Savage, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the United States in Budapest, paid an official visit to our library.
